Biography: Dr Best is the Practice Owner and has worked within both NHS and Private dentistry since qualifying back in 2004. He originally qualified in Leeds and then worked as a private dentist in Australia before returning to Lancashire.He gained his M.F.D.S RCS (Ed) in June 2009 and has a special interest in Orthodontics (Braces) and particularly enjoys Cosmetic DentistryHe has completed a Masters (MSc) in Orthodontics (Braces) at the University of Warwick in June 2021.Dr Best was a finalist in the Dentistry Awards for best young dentist North West in 2014. He has been appointed a mentor responsible for supervising and teaching Foundation Dental Practitioners at the practice for 9 years.Dr Best was also appointed as a honorary tutor for Liverpool University in teaching and supervising Dental Therapy students.

Dr Catherine Armstrong

Biography: Dr Armstrong, one of our senior dentists, joined the practice in 1997 after graduating from Glasgow University. Committed to the provision of NHS and private dentistry here in Darwen Dr Armstrong was also an honorary tutor for Liverpool University, teaching and supervising Dental Therapy students for five years.In 2017 Dr Armstrong completed a PG Cert in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice becoming a Foundation dental Trainer the following year. In this role she supervises and teaches newly qualified dentists in their first year of practice. Dr Armstrong is committed to her own development and supporting the development of others.Understanding that some people have dental anxiety, Dr Armstrong’s wish is to treat each patient with compassion and respect for their unique desires and concerns. She listens without judgment, seeks to understand the patient’s needs, and provides encouraging support throughout the visit. She describes a course on ‘giving painless injections’ as one of the most rewarding she has been on.

Biography: BSc (Hons) BDS Liverpool 2011 GDC Number 209772Dr Goodall joined the practice in August 2011 after qualifying as a Dentist in June 2011 as a Foundation Dental  Practitioner (1st year after qualifying), after completing his foundation year he has now become an associate at the practice.He carries out both private and NHS  treatments, and is now trained in Inman Aligner treatments (Invisible Braces).Dr. Goodall has a special interest in cosmetic treatment and gained a Masters in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry at Manchester University in 2017.

Biography: Dr Dunne graduated from the University of Manchester in July 2019 and joined us as a Foundation Dental Practitioner. She is passionate about delivering high-quality care to her patients in a relaxed and friendly environment. Although she enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, she finds treating paediatric, special care, and anxious patients particularly rewarding.During her time at University, Lucy was awarded the Dr Charles Preston Prize and the Society of Manchester Dental Alumni prize for her academic performance. She was also awarded first place when presenting at the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry North West Competition in 2018.Looking forward, Lucy is keen to further explore other aspects of dentistry and to progress in her dental career.

UclanRuth’s career in dentistry spans over 30 years with experience in all aspects of dentistry. She has had many roles including Dental Nursing within the local Oral & Maxillo – Facialdepartment, before deciding to retrain as a Dental Therapist .She qualified from Liverpool University Dental School in 2007 and part of her training was undertaken at Bateman and Best and on completion of her training, she joined the practice as a qualified member of the dental team.Ruth gained further qualifications in 2013 completing BSc(Hons) at Uclan expanding her knowledge within dentistry and also has a teaching qualification and has been a dentalhygiene therapy tutor at the Liverpool University.Ruth is also an honorary tutor for Liverpool University undertaking training of the dental therapy students within the practice and assisting with the vocational dental therapisttraining.Outside work Ruth enjoys spending time with friends and family which includes her dog but also has a keen interest in running and has completed 10k and a half marathon races. Shealso volunteers with her local running group.

Biography: Qualifications: BSc (Hons) University of ManchesterChelsea’s career in dentistry started in 2012, working within a large dental team providing all aspects of assistance for dental clinicians as a dental nurse.Chelsea then decided to pursue a career in Dental Therapy and qualified from the University of Manchester Dental School in 2018.Once qualified Chelsea joined the Bateman and Best dental team undertaking all duties in her scope of practice, some of which include restorations, periodontal treatment, tooth whitening and pediatric dentistry.Outside work, Chelsea attends the gym regularly and enjoys keeping fit. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
