Biography: Further specialist anaesthetic training was undertaken in the Oxford region. This involved higher training in anaesthesia for bariatric and upper gastrointestinal surgery. After working for a time as a Consultant Anaesthetist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Sam took up his current post at the Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2012. He has extensive experience in anaesthetising patients for bariatric surgery and is the lead bariatric anaesthetist at his NHS Trust.

Biography: Deborah Norman is a Registered Dietitian specialising in providing dietary advice and support for bariatric patients. She graduated from the University of Surrey and completed her professional training at St George's Hospital, London in 1992. Following 20 years with the NHS Deborah now works on a freelance basis for a number of hospitals in the South East. She works as part of the Specialist Bariatric Service at Ashtead Hospital and provides dietary support to patients at the BMI Runnymede Hospital, St Peters Hospital, Chertsey and the Nuffield Hospital Guilford. She now has the pleasure of joining the new bariatric serice at BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford.
