Biography: BSc, DMD, FRCD (C). He was born and raised in East Africa (Rwanda). He and his family migrated to Canada in 1996. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (Class of 2005). He then completed a four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Washington Hospital Center (Washington, DC), where he became Chief Resident from 2008-2009. His residency training has equipped him with the knowledge and skills in a wide scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with special interests in dental implants and tissue engineering, reconstructive surgery and trauma, as well as facial cosmetic procedures. He has also done extensive research on Sleep Apnea. He is Board Certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He has a passion for teaching as well as learning advanced techniques. He continues to keep updated with the newest advances in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is the provider of continuing education for dentists and dental assistants in BC. He lectures on such topics as dental implants, sleep apnea, and anesthesia. He is also a part-time clinical instructor at the UBC Dental School. He enjoys volunteering in the community and has participated in several medical mission trips to Asia, Africa and South America. He is an active member of Health Volunteer Overseas (HVO), a non-profit organization. He speaks many languages, being fluent in French, Gujarati, and Swahili. He enjoys the outdoors (hiking, biking, running) and is an avid tennis player.

Biography: She started her career in 1996 as Dental Administration. She chose to expand her patient care capabilities and graduated from the Certified Dental Assisting Diploma Program at Douglas College in 2002. She has worked as a CDA in general dentistry and has helped treat people of all ages but her primary focus was with children. She expanded her scope of practice and joined the Oral Surgery community in 2011 and completed her Dental Assistants Anaesthesia Certification Exam soon after. She has a great affinity for Oral Surgery and takes immense pride in her work. Her primary focus is patient care and comfort.

Biography: She graduated from the R.N. program at Health Sciences School of Nursing in Winnipeg Manitoba in 1984. She worked in the Children’s Burn Unit for 8 ½ years and then moved to B.C. where she continued to work in pediatrics. For the last 7 years she has worked casual at Chilliwack General Hospital in ambulatory care, eye surgery and for the Chilliwack Public Health Unit. She now joins our team with Dr. Esmail.
