Biography: Vassilis Athanassiou graduated from the Medical School of the National & Capodistrian University of Athens and specialized in Ob & Gyn at the University Clinic of “Alexandra” Hospital, Athens.He undertook his Ph.D at Medical School of Ioannina, Greece in 1994, where he presented his PH.D. thesis on cervical neoplasia. He interned in Surgical Endoscopy & Assisted Reproduction at the following hospitals: Hôpital Cantonal de Fribourg (Switzerland), the Hôpital Universitaire de Genève HUG (Switzerland), Centre Européen de Formation Pratique et de la Chirurgie Endoscopique – Perigeux (France) and Monash University – Melbourne (Australia).Since 1996 he has been practising Surgical Endoscopy & Assisted Reproduction in Greece, having worked at IVF and Assisted Reproduction units in leading maternity clinics. In 2007 he and biologist Mrs Sakellariou founded IVF Athens Center.Dr. Athanassiou is a Scientific Affiliate of Histology – Embryology Laboratory at the Medical School of National & Capodistrian University of Athens and member, BoD member and member of Editorial Committee in numerous national and international associations, including European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and Fertility Society of Australia (FSA). He has published widely in the areas of Infertility, Assisted Reproduction and IVF and has lectured in many national and international conferences and symposia.

Biography: Maria Sakellariou is a certified Embryologist by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and an ESHRE certified Semen Analyst.She is the Co-founder of the IVF Athens Center to which she has been offering her high-calibre expertise as Chief Embryologist after for 13 years of working experience in private maternity and IVF clinics. Among them was a pioneering medical reproductive clinic in Greece, which was affiliated with “PIVET Medical Centre”, Perth, Australia.Mrs Sakellariou holds a PhD from the Department of Biology of National and Capodistrian University of Athens, in which she completed her graduate studies. She has been lecturing since 2010, including the ESHRE’s annual seminar in Greece on “Semen Basic Analysis” and the Postgraduate Program on Reproductive Medicine of “Alexandra” Hospital, Athens, Greece.She has also lectured in numerous national conferences and has presented her wide research work at national and international symposia and journals on Reproductive Medicine.

Biography: Dimitrios Kostomenos was one of the first physicians that joined the IVF Athens Center team, in 2009, and played a critical role in setting up the operations at the Centre’s Unit of Assisted Reproduction.He completed his undergraduate studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and received his formal training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Areteion Hospital in Athens, Greece. Biography: Dr Melina Stasinou obtained her medical degree at Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2003. She completed her specialty training in several teaching Greek hospitals. She obtained an excellent Master of Science by research degree in the field of “Research in Female Reproduction” at the University of Athens in 2011.In February 2013, she awarded a dual accreditation of her specialty in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and her Doctorate (PhD thesis) in the field of “Obstetric Analgesia” at the University Hospital of Ioannina.In 2013, she started working as a Clinical Research Fellow in the IVF Unit of Hammersmith Hospital in London, where she has completed the modules of British Fertility Society in Pelvic Ultrasound and Embryo Transfer/IUI procedures and obtained an extensive experience in the assisted reproduction techniques. She is a member of numerous medical organisations in the UK and abroad (HCCP, BFS, ESHRE, Cochrane Group) and assistant member of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.She has published and participated as a co-author in several peer-reviews papers in the fields of human reproduction, cervical pathology and colposcopy and she has presented her research in national and international congresses.She joined Create Fertility in 2013 embracing the natural and mild IVF approach and the context of high quality customised fertility treatments that can lead the infertile couples safely to a successful IVF journey.
