Biography: Dr Ewa Siolo was born in Warsaw where she also qualified from Medical School. She then left for South Africa and started her postgraduate training at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal. She then spent 5 years in general surgery, 5 years in the burn unit then got her South African bachelor’s degree in medicine to enter Plastic Surgery training! Qualified as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon she took an interest in craniofacial and Cleft Surgery. She has vast experience in treating rare craniofacial deformities like facial duplication, aglossia, facial clefts etc. Her main interest in Aesthetic are aging face, liposculpture and fat transfers. Dr Siolo has been appointed an honorary lecture at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal and participates in specialized training in being a councilor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons college of medicine of South Africa. She is the first female surgeon qualified from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal as well as the first female examiner for Plastic surgery fellowship exams in South Africa. Dr Siolo is a member of numerous professional and societies such as APRSSA, IFATS, ASAPS, ISPAS, ISPRES, ISPRAS. She has also been a member of regulatory Affairs Committee of IFATS and was recently elected as National Secretary Assistant for ISAPS in South Africa. She was also awarded Dr Peer Traveling Scholarship be ASAPS which is going to use for her preparation for her PhD in the field of craniofacial surgery. She is also involved in charity work with Operation Smile and LEAP.
