Biography: Dr Yosanta Rajapakse, MBChB (Otago NZ) FRACS (Plast) is a leading Plastic Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgeon with a particular interest in treating patients on a holistic level to gain optimum results. Dr Rajapakse graduated from Otago University, New Zealand in 1995 and has been practicing medicine for 20 years and surgery for 15 years. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, member of Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and International Society of Aesthetic plastic surgeons. Dr Rajapakse has a sub specialty interest in all aspects of plastic surgery of the Breast and Skin. He has trained extensively in Australasia, Europe and the US. After completing his plastic surgical residency Australia and New Zealand he then moved to Europe to further refine skills in aesthetic and microsurgical plastic surgery. He spent time after completion of his residency in Sevilla, Southern Spain working with leading surgeons in Continental Europe. This was followed by further training in all aspect of microsurgical breast reconstruction and aesthetic breast surgery at St Thomas Hospital, London UK, and the prestigious London cancer hospital, the Royal Marsden. He performs both immediate and delayed breast reconstruction as well as other breast surgeries including breast augmentation, breast reduction, mastopexy and fat grafting. He also has a keen interest in all aspects of Skin Cancer including various reconstructive techniques. He also provides a wide range of reconstructive and aesthetic surgeries of the body and face specifically tailored to the needs of each individual. Dr Rajapakse has a special interest in medical education and is actively involved in surgical simulation. He is also a surgical instructor for surgical skills courses for residents and lecturer at the University of Wollongong. He has also been actively involved in training future plastic surgeons in his public hospital roles as a visiting medical officer (VMO) in Canberra and previously as a VMO in Concord hospital, Sydney, and Wollongong hospitals, NSW. He is currently an examiner in the clinical exam for basic surgical trainees.
