Retina Specialists Eye Centre is run by highly trained eye specialists with additional international sub-specialist training as Retinal Specialists. All types of retinal diseases like AMD, Retinal Detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, and diabetic retinopathy, are treated here. Biography: MA MB BChir (Cambridge) FRCOphth (UK) FRANZCO (Aust) CCT (UK) AM (Mal)I graduated with a medical degree from the University of Cambridge, UK in 1998, and trained to be an eye surgeon in various teaching hospitals in the UK. I am recognised as an Ophthalmologist (Eye Specialist) in the UK, Australia and Malaysia. After completing my specialist training, I decided to spend 2 more years of training in Cheltenham, UK followed by the Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia, to sub-specialise as a retinal surgeon. After almost 18 years abroad studying and working in the UK and Australia, I returned to Malaysia in 2009 to practice as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Consultant Ophthalmologist and Retinal Surgeon at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. I am now in full time private practice at Sunway Medical Centre.I have written an award winning book on AMD and how diet can help prevent this blinding eye disease. The book is called "Food For Your Eyes". I have also published more than 35 scientific journal papers and 2 book chapters on a textbook of cataract surgery. I am the Secretary of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology and have been invited to speak and teach all over the world on my expertise in managing eye and retinal diseases. I am a sub-specialist in Retinal Diseases and mainly treat patients with cataract, pterygium, AMD, Diabetic Retinopathy, macula hole, epiretinal membrane, and retinal detachment. Biography: Dr. Tara Mary George, a retina specialist, obtained her primary medical degree with the B Braun gold medal award from the Science University Malaysia in 1993. In 2001, she received her Masters in Ophthalmology from National University of Malaysia. Dr. Tara also trained as a Fellow in Medical Retina and Uveitis at the Moorfields Eye Hospital London in 2006 and was certified as a Medical Retina Subspecialist by the Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2007.Dr. Tara was initially based in Hospital Kuala Lumpur which was the tertiary referral center for paediatric ophthalmology cases. She later joined Hospital Selayang as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and was involved in General Ophthalmology and cataract services with the primary focus on the Medical Retina and Uveitis Services. Hospital Selayang has been the national tertiary referral centre for medical retina and ocular inflammation and she has gained vast experience there.
