Biography: Dr. Enrique Barragan completed his medical studies at the University of Monterrey (Universidad de Monterrey) and specialized in Ophthalmology at Hospital de Especialidades N. 25 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). Later he specialized in cornea and refractive surgery under the instruction of Dr. Douglas Koch at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He then returned to Monterrey and founded the Laser Ocular Hidalgo and Okumed, from where he has been conducting highly successful private consultation. In his daily practice, Dr. Barragán specializes in laser refractive surgery and cataract. To date he has performed over 10,000 surgeries, which has helped him accumulate sufficient experience and knowledge needed to make a proper selection of patients who are good candidates for each procedure. The proper selection is critical to the success of surgery and minimizes postoperative complications.Thanks to Laser Eye Hill, the only Intralase team in northeastern Mexico, Dr. Barragan has become one of the first ophthalmologists in Mexico who performs surgeries using this technology. In addition, he was lucky to learn the technique directly from world-renowned ophthalmologists like Dr. Stephen Slade (Houston, TX), Dr. William Boothe (Dallas, TX) and Dr. Julian Stevens (London, UK).
