Biography: BSc, MSc, PhD, DMD, FRCD(C), FIAOMSDr. Louis Bourget received his Bsc in Physiology in 1983. Continued his research on enzyme treatment for the inborn error of metabolism PKU to complete is PhD at McGill University by 1986. Accepted in an undergraduate Dental program at McGill University until 1990. A year of medical/dental internship allowed him to enter a maxillofacial program at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His training was completed by 1995. He received his fellowship (FRCD (C)) in the same year. He was in France for a fellowship in Cleft Lip and Palate reconstruction and Facial cosmetics.Advanced courses in facial reconstruction were also taken at the Mayo clinic and in Sweden, Michigan, St. Louis, San Francisco, Florida and Vienna. He followed a facial cosmetic fellowship in North Carolina. He is also a fellow of the international association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons. He was in an active practice in Bathurst, NB and has been involved with facial reconstruction & rehabilitation since 1995-2008.  Since then he has a full time practice in Halifax Nova scotia in an accredited Ambulatory facility, and has satellite offices in Truro, Bridgewater, Moncton and Gander NL.He is the author of many scientific papers and has presented extensively in National and International meeting on Cleft lip and palate and facial reconstruction. He has been intensively involved in provincial development of oral & maxillofacial surgery and has been involved with implant rehabilitation training, facial cosmetic and facial trauma / reconstruction. He is current advanced cardiac life support instructor (ACLS). He is an active staff at the South shore regional hospital.   He maintains a private practice in the full scope of oral and facial reconstruction & facial cosmetic surgery in Halifax NS with satellite practices in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.Cosmetic surgery required additional years of hospital-based training. Dr. Bourget manages a wide variety of problems relating to the face. He practices a full scope of cosmetic surgery with expertise in reconstructive and facial cosmetic surgery.
