Biography: Dr Andrew Thorpe originates from the south of Brisbane, and moved to Mackay at the end of 2008 to start at Paul Lange Dental. Dr Andrew studied dentistry on the Gold Coast, as a foundation member of Griffith University dental school, where he won academic achievement awards for both his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees. Moving to Mackay was a large change for Dr Andrew, one that he has not regretted.Dr Andrew regularly attends continuing dental education sessions, which is where dentists learn and update skills. Since moving to Mackay, Dr Andrew has lost count of the number of courses he has attended; however, they have been in practically every domain of dentistry, and always of a high calibre. Courses worthy of mention include spending a week working with specialists in Sydney for advanced wisdom tooth and surgical training; working with specialists in Brisbane for surgical placement and restoration of implants; working with specialists in the United States of America for specialised restoration of complex dental implant cases; working with implant surgical specialists in Canada for advanced surgical implant placement and sinus augmentations; co-educating in New Zealand in the restoration of complex full mouth reconstruction cases; and, working with braces-experts in the United States of America.
