Our mission at Penang Dental Surgery, since 1984, is to provide professional dental services that are technologically current, with a commitment to excellence.

Dr Yu Joo Tan

Biography: Dr. Tan graduated from the University of Manipal, India, back in 1980. He has over 30 years of extensive experience practising dentistry. He is part of the fellowship of Implantology from the United States of America, Germany and Australia.Dr. Tan is a true master in the art and science of cosmetic dentistry as well as implantology, which is evident in his skill and artistry of beautiful and natural results. "To be an excellent dentist, you need eyes of a hawk and hands like a butterfly," he says. Dr Wooi Teong Lim

Biography: Dr. Lim, an ex-national top scorer in public exam was born and educated in Penang. As what he used to say, he was one of the nineteen Chinese students that was lucky enough to be accepted by the, then one and only dental school in the country namely the Faculty of Dentistry University of Malaya. Students were trained in all aspects of dentistry and were requested to fulfil a strict clinical schedule before final professional exam. That enable him to practice full fledge dentistry today. After he graduated from MU, he was trained by Dr. Loh Kai Woh who was the founder of the Association of Orthodontists Singapore. He also passed the exam and granted accreditation by the Australian Society of Implant and Dentistry. “To me” he said, “dentistry is my calling to serve people and God.Dr. Lim was also a distinction holder in Associated Board of Royal School of Music piano exam. He volunteered himself as a full time pianist in his church before he went to MU. “Music has long been able to enrich my life and to comfort my soul after a long day of stressful work and also to maintain my dexterity as well” he said.

Biography: Dr. Lam graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1994. With a career spanning close to 30 years, she is ever willing to attend to your dental needs be it aesthetics, restorative meaning fillings, prosthetics (crowns, bridges and dentures), endodontics (root canal treatment), periodontics (scaling and polishing) and extractions. She has worked in Alor Setar and Petaling Jaya before settling down in Penang.
Dr Kiat Chye Ng

Biography: Dr. Ng Kiat Chye graduated from Manipal College of Dental Surgery in Manipal, India. He was awarded with the Bachelor of Dentistry upon his completion in 2009 and served as an intern in India for a year before returning home.In Malaysia, he started his compulsory service with the government in Klinik Pergigian Sungai Petani, Kedah from 2011 and completed all the specialties postings. From 2012 to 2015, he was trained in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics in Klinik Pergigian Bakar Arang, Kedah. He was awarded the Excellent Service Award by the Ministry of Health Malaysia during his stint of service.Dr. Ng is also a life member of Malaysia Dental Association. Due to his special interest in Dental Implantology, he has successfully attained the Certificate of Dental Implantology by Asian Implant Institute, Singapore in 2014. Dr. Ng also has keen interest in Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry. He was brought up in Penang and being a local home-grown man, he is fluent in English, Malay, Mandarin and Hokkien.

Biography: Dr. Goh Li Teng graduated top of her class from Faculty of Dentistry, Padjadjaran University in 2011. She obtained one of the most coveted national scholarships [Public Service Department (PSD) scholarship, also known as Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) scholarship] in 2005 after achieving not only academic excellence, but also extra-curricular merit to pursue her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in Indonesia.Upon her return to Malaysia, she served the government for 5 years, completing training in Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Paediatrics and General Dentistry. During her government service, she was appointed as a member of the ministry’s Disaster Victim Identification Unit and also held the position of clinic dental officer-in-charge where she oversees the entire dental division’s daily operations. She is a member of Malaysian Dental Association and is fully registered with Malaysian Dental Council.Dr. Goh is very passionate in working in all facets of dental care, providing a wide range of professional advice and treatments. She aims to provide patients with the highest standard of aesthetics and functional outcome as well as practicing safe, gentle and comfortable dentistry. Dr. Goh believes in empowering her patients to help them understand their dental problems and ways to improve and maintain good oral health at home.
Dr Kai Wen Tan, Caitlyn

Biography: Dr. Caitlyn Tan has been fascinated by her father’s (principal dentist Dr. Tan Yu Joo) work at a very young age, and has had opportunities to observe the positive impact he had as he improved their smile and quality of life. She then knew that she too wanted to serve and deliver dental excellence to her patients while caring for the patient’s individual needs and goals.She graduated from Manipal University in 2016, and immediately started her continuous education journey with a working internship in Palacky University, Czech Republic. She was then appointed as a Dental Officer by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and worked for two years alongside Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Paediatric Dentistry specialists prior to joining the team in Penang Dental Surgery.Dr. Tan is known for her warm nature and friendly personality, making her great with adults and children alike. She is committed to improving not only the oral health and smiles of her patients, but also their dental knowledge. She recognizes that “we fear what we don’t know” and by providing in-depth explanation and discussion on options, she allows patients to make better oral health decisions together.
