Biography: Dr. Barış Polat was born in a İstanbul in 1984. He was graduated from Söke Hilmi Fırat Anatolian Highschool when he was 18 years old and moved to the İstanbul. He started his medical education at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty of İstanbul University which is one of the best known medical school in Turkey. He completed his medical education in 6 years and then he started his Orthopedics and Traumatology assistantship by getting a good grade in the specialty exam. He continued his assistantship for 5 years at the Istanbul Training and Research Hospital, one of the hospitals with the highest number of daily surgeries in the field of Orthopedics and Traumatology in Turkey. In 2015, he received the title of Orthopedics and Traumatology specialist with a successful exam. He worked at Van Erciş State Hospital for 2 years. During this time he performed numerous surgeries. In 2017, he started to work at the Near East University due to his academic career and his desire to do scientific research. From 2017 to 2020, he worked in the Orthopedics and Traumatology clinic of the Near East University and University of Kyrenia. During this time, he wrote 42 scientific research articles published in international journals and he wrote 3 book chapters. He lectured numerous lectures to medical school students. He was successful in the Turkish board exam in 2017. In the same year, he was successful in the 2-part (written and oral) European board exam held in Lisbon. After all these studies, he received the title of Associate Professor in 2020. He started working at the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital in 2020. He is a member of associations such as Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association, Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Education Council, Turkish Spine Association, Turkish Sports Injuries Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery Association. He performs very successful operations in the fields of trauma surgery, knee shoulder and ankle arthroscopy surgery, spine surgery, hip, knee and shoulder prosthesis surgery, foot-ankle surgery, hand surgery, bone and soft tissue surgery. İn 2021 he started a new venture with other doctors from different departments called Primemed Clinic in Kyrenia and he is still practicing there. 3 orthopedic specialists (Associate Professor Dr. Barış Polat, Associate Professor Dr. Ramadan Özmanevra, Dr. Özenç Altınöz) work together in primemed clinic. They evaluate patients together in a team spirit from examination to surgical intervention. This increases the quality of orthopedics and traumatology service in our clinic and makes it a center of excellence. This team, which does its job with love by following scientific developments and publications, bought the device called zimmer biomet ROSA and performed the robotic knee replacement surgery for the first time at TRNC in September 2022 and continues to do so.
