Biography: Born in 1957 in Istanbul, he finished primary and secondary schools in Germany. He graduated from the Austrian High School Istanbul in 1976. He got into the University of Vienna faculty of medicine in 1976, also into the University of Karl Franzens Graz Department of Translational Studies and Philosophy Institute. He graduated from University of Karl Franzens Graz as a German–Turkish translator in 1979. He earned a masters degree in the Philosophy Institue of the University of Karl Franzens Graz in 1981. He accomplished the University of Vienna Faculty of Medicine and began to work as a resident in the 2nd Ophthalmology Clinic in the same university. He accomplished his military duty in 1983. In 1984 after language and skills exams he continued his residency in University of Istanbul Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology. He was tasked by I.U. Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine to get a course training in the field of “Oculoplasty” in University of Vienna in 1986. A year after he was tasked again by the university to get course trainings about “ Diabetic Retinopathy” and “Argon Laser Photocoagulation” in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. He finishedthe residency in I.U. Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicineas an Eye Specialist in 1987. He started to work as an Eye Specialist in I.U. Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology in the same year. He worked in Corneal Transplantation Research and Application Center of the university between 1989-1999. He was tasked to get a training in “Vitreoretinal Surgery” in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London in 1989. In 1991 he earned the degree of assistant professor while he continued to work in I.U. Cerrahpasa. He participated in studies about “Vitrectomy” and “Excimer Laser” in Luisiana State University Eye Center in 1992. He worked as an assistant manager in Corneal Transplantation Research and Application Center of the university between 1998-1999. He got the degree of professor in 1999 and worked in I.U. Cerrahpasa Department of Ophthalmology between 1999-2001. He worked as the Head of Ophthalmology Department in Kadir Has University Faculty of Medicine between 2001-2005. He worked as the Head of Refractive Surgery Unit in I.U. Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology between 2005-2006. He worked as the Head of Ophthalmology Department in Istanbul Bilim University Faculty of Medicine between 2006-2011. He worked as the Head of Ophthalmology Department in Sisli and Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospitals between 2012-2014 and sees his patients in his own clinic from 2014 on.
