Biography: Dr. Farhan Ahmad graduated from the University of Toronto with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) and also an Honors Bachelors of Science (Hon. B.Sc.)in both Pharmacology and Human Biology.   He further had the privelege to be trained in a hospital-based General Practice Residency (G.P.R.) at Hartford Hospitals Dental and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic in Hartford, Connecticut.  This designation is held by less than 20% of dentists.  His training there included rotations  in Hartford Hospitals Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine departments.Currently, Dr. Ahmad practices a comprehensive scope of dentistry including:General and Family DentistryAdvanced surgical procedures including placement and restoration of Dental Implants, Crown Lengthening and Extraction of Wisdom TeethTreatment of patients under sedation - General Anaesthesia, Oral Sedation and Laughing Gas SedationRoot canal therapyCrown and Bridge prostheses for missing teethTreatment of gum disease including periodontal/gum surgeryFixed and Removable DenturesTreating medically compromised patients on an inpatient and outpatient basisManagement of Oral PathologiesEmergency dental care for patients with severe infections and traumatic dental & orofacial injuriesThroughout his training, Dr. Ahmad has performed research work at the University of Torontos Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Chemistry, as well at the Hospital for Sick Childrens Department of Nephrology, and the Mount Sinai Hospitals Fred A. Litwin Center for Cancer Genetics.  He has published research work in the journals Proteins, Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, and the Ontario Dental Students Journal.
