About Seb Contreras and Associates
Established in 2004, the team of osteopaths and sport therapists have developed a reputation in Knaresborough and Harrogate for excellence and effectiveness in providing advice about, and relieving pain caused by, problems of the musculoskeletal system. The majority of our new patients are personally recommended or referred directly from their GP or consultant.
Osteopaths Seb, Alana & Ole are experienced in treating a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. They treat patients with all types of musculoskeletal problems including back and neck pain, sciatica, tennis elbow, frozen shoulders, headaches, sports injuries, and degenerative conditions. Osteopathy is a safe and gentle form of therapy, individually tailored to each patient, making it suitable for everyone from babies to the elderly.
Filipe, our Sports Therapist uses different sports massage and stretch techniques that are adapted to the needs of each individual. Filipe works with a great range of clients in assisting with preventative treatment and injury recovery. Sports massage is not only for athletes, it can benefit people who suffer from general aches and pains usually brought on by repetitive movements at work or more commonly bad posture.

Ms Alana Quinn
- Practice Therapist
Treatments
Biography: Originally from New Zealand, she also trained at the British School of Osteopathy in London, where she achieved a Master's Degree in Osteopathy with Distinction. With a love for the great outdoors, she had been looking to escape the city confines of London. She was delighted to be recruited to work in such a busy practice and provide care for the people of Knaresborough, Harrogate, Ripon, Wetherby and the surrounding villages of the Harrogate District. She is keen to treat people of all ages and combines traditional structural osteopathy with an in-depth knowledge of yoga and cranial osteopathic skills. Cranial osteopathy is a subtle, gentler approach to treatment that has a very powerful effect on the tensions and stresses held deep within the body. It is ideal for treating very acute pain, headaches and children. Her special interests include treating pregnant women, the elderly, young children and chronic pain patients, the latter of which was the topic of her Masters’ dissertation. This has provided Alana with a thorough understanding of the subject, which readily informs her treatments. Having worked at both the London Marathon and as part of the Jonathan Bester project at the London Olympics 2012, Alana is well equipped to deal with sport related injuries as well.

Mr Ole Gulliksen
- Practice Therapist
Treatments
Biography: He grew up in Norway, but has been living in Yorkshire since 2008. He left the Norwegian Special Forces to study sports science and deep tissue massage at the University of Leeds before moving on to complete a Master's Degree in Osteopathy at Leeds Metropolitan University. He has a keen interest in the body’s inherent ability to heal itself and aims to identify issues such as stiff joints, tight or weak muscles as well as lifestyle factors including a poor workstation setup or bad exercise habits that might prevent one from having a healthy body. Alongside treatment, Ole finds giving people ‘tools’ to help themselves can speed up the body’s rehabilitation and help limit problems from returning in the future. He therefore ensures that exercises, postural advice and stretches are given in his treatment sessions when necessary. Through playing sports from a young age and taking part in strenuous physical tasks with the military in Norway, he is comfortable treating sport related injuries as well as chronic problems that reduce the quality of everyday life. Helping people to a better quality of life by reducing pain and other symptoms compels him to continue studying in order to develop his knowledge & skills further. Ole also has a special interest in treating chronic headaches, and as part of his Master's degree, completed his research dissertation on the topic of long standing headache problems. He believes osteopathy has much to offer someone who’s not been able to resolve their headaches through medication.
