Biography: Principal Dental Surgeon. BDS, MFGDP, RCS. Country of issue: UK. GDC registration number: 43263. She qualified in 1969 from Newcastle upon Tyne Dental School. She established St Helens Dental practice in 1984 with only five patients - her husband Richard and their four children! She is now Principal dentist with 5 other associate dentists and four hygienists. part from working in her practice she was on the board of Dental Protection Limited (DPL) for 9 years and the Medical Protection Society Council. She has been a past Director of the Northern Division of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, a member of the Governments Standing Dental Advisory Committee and on Cumbria Local Dental Committee for 17 years. She was an elected member of the GDC for 9 years. She is currently a Life President of Denplan, a BDA Spokesperson and on the Advisory Boards of the Dentist magazine and DPL. Her special interests were working with nervous patients and special need children especially those with Autism. She has very reduced clinical commitment, helping out with children’s sessions only. She was awarded the MBE for services to standards in dentistry in 2000. Outside of dentistry she was a school and college governor working in Primary Secondary and Further education Colleges for 37 years. She loves her garden and entertaining and adores her many grandchildren.

Biography: Dental Surgeon. BDS. GDC registration number: 58992. Qualifying from Newcastle University in 1984, Amanda went home to Southport to spend the first 18 months of her career working in Ormskirk, before moving to Pooley Bridge and joining St Helens Dental Practice in 1986. Married to Nigel in 1987, they subsequently had three sons and so for a while the demands of a young family meant that Amanda worked closer to home in Penrith. In 2005 she was able to return to Cockermouth and has now taken over as Clinical Director for Meredyth.
