About The Castanera Institute of Ophthalmology
The Castanera Institute of Ophthalmology was founded in 1954. Tradition, pioneering use of the most advanced technologies and techniques, scientific research and a truly personalized treatment of patients enabled The Castanera Institute of Ophtalmology to be regarded internationally as one of the focal points in ophthalmic surgery.
The Castanera Institute of Ophthalmology includes all ophthalmic surgical specialties, which are structured in departments led by experts in each specialty: Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Refractive Surgery, Cataract, Eye Plastic Surgery, Diagnosis and Treatment of Glaucoma, Vitreo-Retinal Pathologies and Anterior Segment Pathologies. The Castanera Institute of Ophtalmology offers patients a complete ophthalmologic examination, after carefully analyzing all diagnostic tests, to propose the most appropriate treatment for each case.

Biography: Considered one of the foremost experts eye surgeons in Spain, over two decades, has been a pioneer in the application of more advanced techniques, such as the implantation of monofocal , toric and multifocal intraocular lenses for cataract surgery, Orbscan system diagnosis, or personalized refractive treatments, in which he has participated in various research projects. He is a member of the National Panel on ICL lenses since its founding. As for laser refractive surgery,he was the first ophthalmologist in Spain to start counting the practice in 1988 and has extensive experience with Excimer laser techniques in PRK, LASIK and EpiLASIK. From 2009 to nowadays he has participated in a research protocol SUPRACOR algorithm for laser treatment of presbyopia.
