Biography: Received his medical degree in New York from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Hackensack University Medical Center where he was chosen to represent his colleagues as Administrative Chief Resident. Actively involved in numerous research projects, Dr. Scarpidis is recognized for his contributions to the scientific community. As a clinical investigator in laser liposuction (SmartLipoTM), Dr. Scarpidis presented guidelines for the safe and efficacious use of this technology at national Plastic Surgery conferences.

Biography: Board certified dermatologist in practice in New York. He is a member of the faculty of The Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he is involved in the education of dermatologists in training in their cosmetic and medical clinics. Dr. Akhavan is an author of several textbook chapters on therapeutics in dermatology, as well as numerous articles published in a variety of journals. Dr. Akhavan has been involved in a variety of medical research studies, including extensive work studying the protective effects of a variety of natural compounds against skin cancer.

Biography: Completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital of Harvard University in Boston, her dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, one of the top dermatology training programs in the nation, and received her Masters of Science in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania, earning her the prestigious Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health and the American Skin Association. As a member of clinical faculty at Mount Sinai, she trains other dermatologists in the latest methods, as well as actively participates in new research. She is proud to be published in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association, Dermatology edition.
