Biography: Graduated as a doctor of medicine, surgery and obstetrics at the university of Antwerp in 1993. He then took courses in general surgery with a special interest in cardiothoracic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Part of his training was in the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein (NDL) at the department of thoracic surgery under Dr.. FE Vermeulen. After his recognition as a general surgeon in 1998, he began his training in plastic surgery at the University Hospital of Ghent led by Prof. Dr. S. Monstrey. In addition to general plastic and aesthetic surgery, he was primarily interested in microsurgery and reconstruction of breast and genital region. After his recognition as a plastic surgeon in 2002, he did a fellowship for facial surgery in Dijkzicht Hospital in Rotterdam (NDL) under Prof. Dr. SER Hovius. Since August 2004, his practice located in the IHe was named a fellow of the Collegium Chirurgicum Plasticum (CCP) and Diplomate of the Europen Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the Royal Belgian Society for Plastic Surgery (RBSPS), the European Association of Plastic Surgery (EURAPS), the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM).
