Biography: Dr. Frank van den Eeden has been awarded his doctor’s diploma in 1979 by the University of Ghent (Belgium). He has worked for many years in leading orthopaedic hospitals as a surgeon, among others at the University hospital Bonn (Germany), alongside Prof. H. Rössler. In 1985, Dr. van den Eeeden submitted his thesis on the hip disease Epiphysiolysis Capitis Femoris. This disease affects children and can in later life be the cause of hip arthrosis. Dr. van den Eeden has been a pioneer in the so called "direct anterior approach" (DAA), a new operating technique with very low complication rates and fast recovery, allowing patients to quickly assume normal daily activities after the operation. Dr. van den Eeden has treated more than 1,000 patients via the DAA approach, with very good results. His enthusiasm for helping patients with hip problems led him to establish the Netherlands Hip Clinic in 2011.He is a member of the Netherlands Orthopaedic Association, the Belgian Association for Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the Dutch Spine Society and the Hip Society.
