About Willaston Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic
Willaston Physiotherapy & Sports Rehab is a unique organisation dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and rehabilitation from musculoskeletal and sporting injuries. Operating on the Wirral since 1990, we now have 2 purpose built clinics in Willaston and Bromborough. Professional and highly experienced, we have a dedicated and passionate Physio team who offer an extensive range of services, from Initial Assessment and treatment and Sports specific rehab, to more specialist services such as Acupuncture, Women's Health Physio, Kinesiology taping and Sports massage. We are also currently the only clinic in Cheshire or the Wirral to offer 'The Performance Matrix', a specialist and comprehensive screening platform for movement analysis, preventing injury and improving performance for all individuals and athletes.
Both clinics are easily accessible with ample off-road parking. We are HPC registered and recognised by all major insurance companies.
No GP referral is needed.

Mr Linda Johnson

Biography: Special Interest in the treatment of Stress incontinence and Pregnancy and Women’s Health.Linda trained at Sheffield qualifying in 1981, she has worked at Willaston since 1996, having worked in outpatient physiotherapy at several hospitals including Murrayfield Spire for 10 years, Linda has also worked at GP clinics throughout the Wirral.She is qualified and practised in the use of Mckenzie diagnosis and treatment for neck and back problems, more recently trained in the use of kinesiology taping for sports and other acute injuries

Mrs Sue Coppack

Biography: Sue trained at St Thomas Hospital, London qualifying in 1980. She has worked in both the NHS and private practice with a wide range of experience including musculoskeletal, sports injuries and children. Sue has been working at Willaston Physio & Sports Rehab since 2002.Sue is qualified and practiced in the use of McKenzie diagnosis and treatment of neck and back problems, she is also qualified as an APPI Pilates instructor and leads several classes at the Willaston clinic. Pilates puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment and developing a strong core, she brings this to all areas of her treatments.Sue actively participates in a variety of sports and therefore has the understanding and empathy of sports injuries and the need to rehab them effectively.

Mr Paul Rushton

Biography: Paul initially started out as a professional footballer spending 5 years as a player at Crewe Alexandra but unfortunately spending large periods out due to various injuries where he spent some time at Lilleshall working through various rehabilitation programmes for his various injuries.During this time he worked closely with a number of the physiotherapists which is where his interest started in the profession and so when the opportunity to train to become a physiotherapist became available through a scheme set up by the PFA (Professional Footballers Association) at Salford University, he had no hesitation in taking up the opportunity to change his career when his course commenced in 1994. He also played for Morecambe FC during his time at University playing over 250 games for the club in the Unibond Premier and the Vauxhall Conference.Once qualified he worked in the NHS for about 12 years working his way through the system to eventually become a Clinical Lower Limb Specialist for Wirral PCT, but during the final 3 years of this period was working also at Willaston physiotherapy clinic as a private practitioner.

Mr Dan Gabrielson

Biography: Dan began his working life at Everton Football Club before signing for Wigan. During his footballing years Dan spent a lot of time in the Physio room, due to broken leg and other injuries, he also spent time in rehab at Lilleshall, where he first became interested in physiotherapy.He attended Salford University and qualified in 2007, through a scheme set up by the Professional Footballers Association (PFA).He has worked for the Wirral PCT for 5 years gaining valuable musculoskeletal experience, also worked for Droylseden Football Club from 2008-2010 working with elite footballers.

Mr Steve Donigan

Biography: Steve trained at Salford University and qualified as a physiotherapist in 2008, he started out his training in 2001 at LJMU with BSc Biology, he then trained and qualified in Sports Massage in 2004, following this with AAPI Pilates training in 2009. Steve has worked at Willaston since 2010.Steve is a keen golfer, he has also completed several Olympic distance triathlons and half marathons. He has experience of working for semi professional rugby, football and basketball teams. He provides Physio for Cheshire U20’s RFU.Steve has a special interest in using physiotherapy techniques and sports massage to improve our client’s golf swings.

Mrs Carole Burton

Biography: Carol trained in Sheffield qualifying in 1981. She has worked since then in both the NHS and private practice. Carol has been at Willaston Physio & Sports Rehab since 2000. She has a wide range of experience, treating both acute and chronic spinal and peripheral conditions. She is a member of the Manipulation Association of Physiotherapists (MACP) and also a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).Carol also has experience in using many other treatment approaches eg. Mckenzie, Mulligan Techniques and Kinesiotaping.Carol attended the Kinetic Control Post Graduate Course, she also incorporates movement control analysis and motor control training as a way of effectively managing pain, improving function and preventing recurrence.
