About Back Neck Physiotherapy Richmond
Back & Neck Richmond Physiotherapy specialises in backand neckpain and their consquences, such as sciatica or other referred symptoms – headaches, arm pain, pins and needles/numbness, etc. Often musculoskeletal problems, seemingly unrelated to the neck or back, and manifesting in the shoulder for example, or elsewhere in the periphery of the body, are in fact referred from the spine. There's a right treatment for disc related problems and a right treatment for spinal joint problems: These include: mobilisation, manipulation, traction (spinal decompression therapy) postural re-education, advice on activities of daily living, ergonomics, corrective taping techniques and exercise rehabilitation.
Naturally conditions that are unrelated to the back and neck are also treated. Sprains and strains, including sprained ankles, often quite debilitating and lengthy in their healing, patella tracking problems, RSI, post-fracture rehabilitation, hand injuries, clicking jaw (TMJ), fallen arches of the feet, and many more are treated at the Richmond Physiotherapy Backs & Necks.

Biography: Qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in the U.K. He worked several years in London and in private practice in Norway. On his return to Australia he worked in the Alfred Hospital before establishing his private practice, Richmond Physiotherapy Backs & Necks For two seasons he was the solo physio for the Footscray Football Club. He wrote a book on back pain which was published in 2003. Following his experiences with the many and varied musculoskeletal injuries suffered by the players at Footscray his focus changed to that of the spine. He found many of these injuries, although on the surface brought about by blatant trauma on the field, in fact had their genesis in the spine. It was often the case that the groin strain, hamstring tear, or rotator cuff injury followed a muscle tone change, in the area in question, brought about by spinal inflammation, thus priming it for the subsequent injury. For chronic problems, anywhere in the body, that seem to have no remedy despite many efforts and consultations, often it'll turn out that spinal nerve involvement is the culprit. Spinal disc bulges can cause severe on-going problems in the periphery, or in the head - as in headaches, and yet not be painful in their own right.
