Biography: Dr Hannes Basson graduated with an M.B.ChB. at the University of the Orange Free State, South Africa, in 1985. He specialised as a general surgeon and obtained the M.Med (Surgery) degree at the University of the Orange Free State, South Africa, in 1992. He entered private practice as a specialist surgeon at Sunninghill Hospital in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1993 and worked there until 2002.
