LapSurgery Australia surgeons have been at the forefront of laparoscopic surgery since it was introduced into Australia in 1990. We have been amongst the first to introduce laparoscopic operations for conditions such as inguinal hernia, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, sweating and blushing, gallstones, hiatus hernia and other forms of abdominal conditions including weight loss surgery (Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass and Orbera Balloon).
With more than 30 years of experience, we utilise the most up-to-date surgical technologies and techniques available to assist with prevention, early detection, diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of medical ailments in an endeavour to return you as quickly as possible to a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Mr Ray McHenry

Biography: He graduated in medicine from Monash University. He trained at the Alfred Hospital in surgery and gained his Australian Fellowship in surgery in 1979. He pursued further training in the United Kingdom and returned to Australia in 1981. He has worked in the Dandenong area since then, forming LapSurgery Australia in 2008.

Biography: He graduated in surgery from Monash University after which he undertook specialisation in the United Kingdom in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He gained his Australian Fellowship in surgery in 1994. Chris was a senior lecturer at Monash University Department of Surgery, involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical research. He joined Ray McHenry and Richard Gilhome in 1998.

Biography: Hannah is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Nutritionist whose particular area of interest is in Bariatric nutrition, weight loss and chronic disease management. She is passionate about helping others make the best nutritional choices. Hannah has a full time membership with the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and frequently attends seminars and presentations, which gives her up to date knowledge on using evidence based nutrition science. Outside of work her interests are spending time with family and friends, holidaying and staying active.

Biography: Cheryl joined our Group in Nov 2005 having come from a long standing nursing position at Knox Private Hospital. Her role has grown within the group to include all aspects of patient care and facilitating the clinical management of our rapidly growing Practice.She is involved in establishing off site consulting facilities and providing education and clinical support to new hospital sites and patient support groups. Of recent times she has become our Clinical Nurse Consultant caring for our patients' having the Orbera® Intragastric Balloon. Cheryl is an associate member of OSSANZ.
