Statewide Bariatrics serves New Jersey residents from five different locations. Operating out of the Mountainside Hospital, they offer several different types of surgery to best address your weight-loss needs. These include gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy.

Biography: Dr. Joseph Barbalinardo is a board certified general surgeon with extensive medical training and experience in bariatric and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. He has advanced training in procedures such as Nissen Fundoplication/hiatal hernia repair, colon resection, common bile duct exploration and ventral and inguinal herniorrhaphy. Dr. Barbalinardo has written for a number of medical and scientific publications, and belongs to several professional societies. He is a member of the teaching staff at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Dr. Barbalinardo has also been routinely named a “Top Doc” by New Jersey Monthly Magazine.

Biography: Dr. Robert Barbalinardo is a board certified general surgeon with specialized experience in laparoendoscopic surgery, colorectal surgery and bariatric surgery. He has advanced training in procedures such as colonoscopy and proctectomy with total mesorectal excision (TME). Dr. Barbalinardo is an assistant clinical professor in the department of surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). He has held several administrative positions at Mountainside Hospital, including director of the department of surgery. Dr. Barbalinardo has been named a “Top Doc” by New Jersey Monthly Magazine every year since 2007. He has also been named one of “America’s Top Surgeons” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.
Dr Samuel Echeverri

Biography: Dr. Samuel Echeverri is a board certified general surgeon. He attended UMDNJ and completed his internship and residency training at Morristown Medical Center, where he was selected as administrative chief resident. Dr. Echeverri concentrates on minimally invasive surgery, with a special interest in bariatric surgery and minimally invasive surgery for hernia, colorectal disorders and gallbladder disease. In 2014, Dr. Echeverri helped lead a national training program to teach bariatric surgeons around the country the latest techniques in bariatric surgery. In addition to developing supportive relationships with his patients in the office, Dr. Echeverri participates in 5k running and walking events with his bariatric patients.
